Free Ish

Its been an incredible 48 hours for LEGAL FREE downloaders. Firstly, Rusko released part 1 of his 'Lost Dubs' tracks. And then, just a day later, Skream dropped the third of his Freeizm series.

Rusko's Lost Dubs appear to be very rushed. No indexing on the track names, mis-matched volumes, these appear to have been pritt sticked together. Nonetheless, there are some big tracks here. A unique version of The Girl From Codeine City being the definite highlight.

Freeizm is a whopping 9 track EP, with some absolute gems from down the years. As with Rusko's compilation, there is no time for nicely indexed tracks, just an amalgamation of tunes that must have just popped into Skream's head as he went to upload. In particular Meta Lick and Pick Ya Knees Up are superb.

June 14th has been confirmed as the release date of Rusko's debut LP, O.M.G. Despite the horrible title, all of the tunes being leaked are very impressive, not least next single Hold On. The track is UKG channeled through Dirty Projectors and MJ Cole, it is fantastic!

UK D'n'B stalwarts Sub Focus have come in with a huge remix. The remix features Doctor P style screeches along with some heavy crescendos and pulsing synths clatter the track along to it's large conclusion with high hats, symbals and wobbles flying every which way. Check it...

AbandonSilence and friends often joke about how Rusko has lost it. Mentally that is, though I do hear grumblings that he is losing his touch on the music front. With the use of three videos, AbandonSilence will prove to you A) he has lost it mentally B) he hasn't lost it musically AND C) You should never under rate him, especially live.

Firstly, we have the EXCLUSIVE! new Rusko single. Acting as the main pre-cursor to Rusko's forthcoming OMG LP, this track, titled 'Hold On', is quite different to what AbandonSilence had expected. We would'nt've been surprised to hear electro, we would've expected dubstep, but instead we have distinctly wobble free, beat free UKG vibes.
This track is going to be huge! Despite the non-existent response to Woo Boost, AbandonSilence predicts that this could be a crossover hit, and we think it will make the Top 40. ON A BOLD TING.
AbandonSilence couldn't track down an mp3 for this, but we will produce one as soon as we can, that's a promise!





Here we have the promo video for Woo Boost. AbandonSilence likes to see ourselves as a forward thinking blog, so we won't post the now ancient mp3, go buy it if you're incapable of finding one. In the video, loosely inspired by MIA, but on a rather shit level, we see Rusko draped in a Union Jack messing around with Green Screen. No doubting the tune, but the video. Eeer.





Finally... just as the haters sharpen their knives as the LP looms, AbandonSilence wants to take you back to Rusko's strongest attribute. His liveshow. No one can doubt that he is a brilliant live DJ, showcasing great crowd skills, fantastic set lists and great exclusives. This video comes from the same guy as the 'Dubstep in HD', featuring the classic Rusko drop of Blinded by the Lights into Badman Sound. Check it and scream!

Brand New MIA vs Rusko. Again!

Despite a horrible piece of misleading advertising - "make sure you get here at 10 so you don't miss out", even though Rusko wasn't playing til 2am?! - Rusko was excellent last night, playing new tracks from his forthcoming OMG LP along with a few other tasty surprises.

One of these surprises, which was a genuine one, was the playing of a BRAND NEW MIA TRACK. Rusko announced that this had never been played before last night, AbandonSilence recorded it on our communal mobile phone and it's now on YouTube...

The track is untitled, and the video isn't the best quality, but from what we can remember the track had a tribal feel and was incredibly bassy.

Apologies to all involved... AbandonSilence today received it's first DMCA for copyright breach :s Oh deary me! Well, offending materials have been removed, it was on an old post anyway - I'm not allowed to say what individual post the material was on, but you can probably work out what's missing.

Anywho.. today! Well, rather unfortunately for me, after the messiness of last night's horribly generic student night, I have further pressing matters this fair evening - Rusko is heading to Liverpool! The man is playing at the Liverpool Barfly, and we will be there.

However, the gig is pay-in only, rather oddly, so we have to get there early-doors to guarantee entry. Bit frustrating.

So, to celebrate this fine evening of dirty DJing and ugly beats, I will give you some fresh Rusko, alongisde a classic remix. The Jahova VIP first came to our notice on Caspa's Essential Mix, but we've heard it alot since then, classic.

The Prodigy Remix is the biggest signifier of what Rusko live gig is like, you can almost hear the destruction occuring while the bass flies every which way possible.

Finally, a rare remix of an Attacca (don't know?) track. This is an interesting track as it is the most recent, and is also in a more electro direction, which Rusko has spoke about as an influence upon his forthcoming LP. Also, it's a tune!

Rusko is Coming

Two weeks today, the city of Liverpool will be graced by the presence of one hell of a dirty man. No not Gary Glitter, Rusko! In support of his horrifically titled debut album, OMG, Rusko is playing at the Liverpool Barfly on the 25th February. Support will come from local DJs Rich Furness and Eat Your Greens' Jonas.

Today we link you to the download of an interview Rusko did with Diplo, head of his label Mad Decent, to chat about his future plans, the album and other interesting things like his influences.

Its a very good listen for anyone wondering how to get into DJing and just how one of the UK's best DJs got to where he is.

MIA vs Rusko

Exciting times, as AbandonSilence is proud to share new MIA material with you. The inaugral six posts on AbandonSilence were dubstep related, and this is no different, as the unexpected producer is... Rusko!

Did you see that coming? Well we most certainly didn't.

The track itself is very different from our man Rusko's previous efforts. He really appears to have adapted to the surroundings very well. The backing track is tribal, glitchy, grimey and bassy at the same time?!

This track will apparently be appearing on MIA's forthcoming currently untitled second album, and going by this MIA may have done the unthinkable task of actually topping Kala.
