Autumn Movements

It's been a pretty hectic Autumn so far, and we are just getting warmed up. Our opening shows at The Shipping Forecast and The Masque have gone down really well, and we move on to our second show at The Masque this Friday with George Fitzgerald, Pariah, Bondax & Medlar performing.

We will quickly run through each of our gigs so far this year now...

We opened the year with Roska & Jamie George headlining in The Shipping Forecast as a part of our monthly residency there. Due to complications out of our control, Mele had to drop out at the last minute. However, Steel City don Martelo was able to step in at the last minute to support Roska. The night was absolutely huge, with Martelo's set in particular getting the sell-out crowd bouncing.

Despite the pressures of relaunching after a Summer hiatus, our second gig of the year was easily our hardest to prepare for. After a couple of years in The Shipping Forecast, we decided to take a step up and move to The Masque venue. Attempting a triple-up in capacity is a bold move at any time, though we felt that if we were ever going to make the move, this is the perfect time. Boddika, Bok Bok, L-Vis 1990, Dusky and Rich Furness performed on the night, which will go down as one of the best ever Abandon Silences. The video at the top of this article does relative justice to how well the night went, with a few photos here hopefully helping you out too...

We moved on to the second stage of our residency at The Shipping Forecast on the 25th October with Bicep and South London Ordnance DJing down in The Hold. It was another sell out gig at The Ship and none of the DJs disappointed. SLO played a more house-y vibe than we had expected, though kudos must be given to him for adapting his style for the situation, as he was warming up for two of house music's hottest stars. Irish duo Bicep kept the vibe going throughout their 2 hour set, drawing from past and future classics at ease. Abandon Silence traditions were also adhered to, with Bicep managing to get the whole of the crowd to take part in a 'sit-down-stand-up'. If you're not sure what that is, it's exactly what it says on the tin, and there's a photo example below here...

Hiatus

Abandon Silence is currently undertaking it's annual Summer hiatus. We will be returning on 5/10/12 with a huge line up that we cannot wait to share with you guys.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their unwavering support over the past 2 years, without your help we would not still be here. We really appreciate it.

A number of big changes will be happening to Abandon Silence over the Summer, though deep down it will still be the same Abandon Silence that we all love. All of the changes taking place have been carefully thought out with you guys always in mind and to ensure that the progression and evolution of Abandon Silence can continue in the same vein - through our philosophy of bringing the world's most exciting and fresh electronic music artists to Liverpool and hosting parties in an excellent spaces with huge soundsystems, all while maintaing affordable entry prices.

Much love, hope to see you at a festival this Summer,

Abandon Silence

Summer Plans

Despite our current Summer hiatus, you can still catch Abandon Silence at both Mifest and Dimensions Festivals.

At Mifest, based just outside Chester, Abandon Silence have collaborated with Manchester based night Selective Hearing to curate a stage. Joining us across the 10th and 11th August we have, amongst others, Joy Orbison, Boddika, Loefah, Bok Bok, L Vis 1990, T Williams, Huxley and Disclosure.

Tickets are out now, priced at just £55 each for a weekend camping pass. Get yours here now..

Also, later in the Summer, you can catch Abandon Silence DJ's hosting an afternoon on the beach stage at Dimensions Festival. The new festival based at Punto Cristo in Croatia, is a brand new festival put together by the team behind Outlook. We cannot wait and are over the moon to be associated with such an amazing brand. Get tickets for Dimensions Festival here...

Hopefully catch some of you guys there!..

Abandon Silence Second Birthday

After the Dimensions Festival launch at Easter time, we decided to take a brief hiatus to collect ourselves before our Second Birthday party on 3rd June. From the end of January up until Easter we had worked our way through fortnightly shows, and the toll was quite a lot, on both myself and the crowd. The break gave us all time to recuperate and build towards our birthday, with a very special headliner who I have genuinely been trying to book for about 18 months. Finally, I got my man, and Julio Bashmore came to play, supported by Midland, Mele and James Rand,

The night was ridiculous, straight from doors until close there was a full room bouncing along to the sounds. Mele and James Rand's set was heavy and really got the crowd moving, Midland's was one of the best sets we have seen all year, he will definitely be back.

Headliner Julio Bashmore lead the crowd on a journey through house, with particular room-shakers coming from his recent single 'Au Seve' and FCL's classic 'Let Go'. An extortionate amount of rum was drank, so thankfully our photographer Matthew Ball took these shots of the night. The rest can be found here ...

Dimensions Festival Launch Party

So, to recap. Since the party we hosted with George Fitzgerald, a lot of things have happened...

Firstly, in April, we hosted a Dimensions Festival launch party featuring a world's first combination as Space Dimension Controller and Blawan went b2b for 5 hours... The vibe downstairs in The Shipping Forecast was electric, ridiculous tune selection. Highlight of the night goes to Blawan for the track above.

Here is a selection of photographs from the night, courtesy of our ever-reliant photographer Matthew Ball...

We apologise for the major delays in any posting... In all honesty I got a new computer and had my old gmail password lost when i switched as it's different from everything else.

Just got given a new password, so we're back online. Many thanks, a big review post of the past 4 months activity coming next

The Shipping Forecast

£7 advanced tickets available-

physically in 3B Records, Slater Street

As Abandon Silence prepares to wind down for the exam season we have organised one final party down in The Hold with two of our favourite artists going back to back all night long. Blawan returns to Abandon Silence after being one of the stars of our Autumn season, in the time since then his track ‘Getting me Down’ was named Track of 2011 by Resident Advisor - an unbelievable feat for a song that was originally just a bootleg for gigs. Space Dimension Controller helped curate this line up and we cannot be more happy to host him for his Abandon Silence debut. His recent album Road to Tiraquon was one of the most critically acclaimed LPs of the year, coming out on the influential R & S record label. This is the first time ever that the two artist have gone back to back all night long, and after the huge success of the Night Slugs all night long party, we are ridiculously excited to go back in with the same format.

Dimensions Festival

From the team behind Outlook festival comes Dimensions, taking place from September 6th – 9th 2012. Dimensions will take over the same abandoned fort used for Outlook (Fort Punta Christo) but will have a very different focus in styles of music. The Outlook festival is bass-related whilst Dimensions will highlight the deeper side of techno and house. Nearly 40 artists have been revealed so far, acts include: Theo Parrish and Moodymann, Kyle Hall, Surgeon, Marcel Dettman, Ben Klock, Floating Points, Levon Vincent Kassem Mosse, Space Dimension Controller and Motor City Drum Ensemble, Scuba, Blawan, Joy Orbison, Boddika, Shackleton and the full Hessle Audio crew. Much like Outlook the action will take place on both land and sea...

After the huge success of the Night Slugs takeover, we move on to our next gig on the 9th February featuring the sounds of Mosca, Disclosure, SertOne b2b Bolts & Real.

£6 advanced tickets available:

or physically at 3B records, Slater Street

Abandon Silence are proud to present a special double bill as two of the UK's hottest artists head to The Hold. 2011 was the year of Mosca, from his early releases to the inescapable Bax, played by artist as diverse as Seth Troxler, Skream and James Blake. To quote Fact, who placed the track at number 2 in their 2011 countdown; "Suave as you like, it blew up any dancefloor it came near and reminded us why we fell in love with UK club music in the first place." Supporting Mosca is the prodigious duo Disclosure, who bring their fresh and exciting live show to The Shipping Forecast. They spent the last couple of months of 2011 on tour as a part of the Annie Mac Presents... tour, being handpicked by the Radio One DJ herself. Despite their relative infancy, they have crafted a reputation as one of UK electronic music's 'next big things'. Support comes, as ever, from Abandon Silence residents Sertone, Bolts and Real.

Night Slugs...

Wow.. Thursday night was more than anything we could've imagined. We sold out all of our advanced allocation of tickets, with the tickets held for the door all going within 20 minutes. The record breaking crowd were treated to a sonic display by L Vis 1990 and Bok Bok that will live long in the memory. With no rules except for a rising bpm, the two Night Slugs cohorts lead The Shipping Forecast through their back catalogue, with many a surprise thrown in for good measure. As you can see from the pictures below (full album here), a good time was had by all...]

Physically available at 3B Records, Slater Street

After an epic 2011 that included visits from James Blake, Joy Orbison, Ben UFO, Blawan, Sbtrkt and loads more, Abandon Silence move in to the new year with a record label takeover that has truly been over 18 months in the waiting.

Night Slugs has been one of the foremost labels in the UK Bass Music genre, with a catalogue of releases over the last 2 years to rival any other stable.

For this special night we are proud to welcome label bosses L Vis 1990 and Bok Bok to host proceedings all night long. An epic 5 hour set encompassing all areas of bass music, this promises to be one of the most memorable Abandon Silences to date.

L VIS 1990

L Vis 1990, real name James Connolly, had a huge 2011; a couple of single releases earlier in the year were followed by the hotly anticipated Neon Dream LP on Island Records. The album was one of the year's most acclaimed records, popping up on many of the 'End of year' lists. He will be making his Abandon Silence debut alongside his label mate...

BOK BOK

Making his Liverpool debut with this unique show, we cannot express how happy we are to be hosting Bok Bok at The Shipping Forecast. His 2011 EP, Southside, came out in mid-2011 in a maelstrom of hype due to a number it's heavy tracklist featuring some of the producer's best ever work. Tracks like Silo Pass and Hyperpass ran the Spring and Summer playlists, encorporating the sounds of house, techno and grime to devastating effect.

With a calendar of further stellar guests to come, as well a huge 2nd Birthday bash in June, we cannot wait to share 2012 with you once again.

October Memories

After the madness of Jacques Greene, our two October shows blew us away. Firstly we hosted the Hessle Audio crew with performances from Blawan and Ben UFO, and then last week Oneman and Mele headed to The Shipping Forecast.

Below is a selection of the photographs from the Hessle Audio night, which can all be viewed here... (Oneman/Mele photos to follow)
